Catholic Knights' new vision determined that the organization must redefine itself as a Catholic membership organization, emphasizing its core mission of putting Catholic values into action. At the 1997 Triennial Convention, the Judiciary Committee recommended, and the Convention delegates approved, a name change for Catholic Knights to better define itself as a Catholic membership organization. The name changed from Catholic Knights Insurance Society to simply Catholic Knights.
Joining Catholic Knights also became simplified. Convention delegates dictated that becoming a member of Catholic Knights no longer required purchasing a financial product, and the seeds of Catholic Knights new membership program were planted.
To round out its product offerings, Catholic Knights leadership decided to form a subsidiary, Catholic Financial Services Corporation (CFSC).
Catholic Knights became a model for how other fraternal benefit societies in the United States should operate. As a result, a few of these organizations indicated a desire and willingness to become part of the Catholic Knights family. In 2005, an historic merger took place in which Catholic Knights of America (the original parent of Catholic Knights), merged with Catholic Knights in Milwaukee to create a larger and even more significant organization.
In 2007, Catholic Knights' board of directors established five strategic directives for the organization which are the foundation of the Society's five-year strategic plan. These directives are:
Today, Catholic Knights is a vital Catholic membership organization. It attracts new members who want to be part of an organization that puts Catholic values into action and has significant benefits to offer its members. Catholic Knights is in a prominent position for significant growth as the organization takes on the challenges of the 21st century.
